Biography
Scholastic Children’s Books are delighted to welcome Henry Winkler to the Scholastic list. Henry’s new book Ghost Buddy: Zero to Hero is published this month. Henry is admired by audiences of all ages for his role as the Fonz on the long-running series Happy Days, and in such films as Holes and The Waterboy. He is also an award-winning producer and director of family and children’s television and the author (with Lin Oliver) of the critically acclaimed Hank Zipzer series. In September 2011 he was awarded an OBE by the Queen in recognition of his services to children with dyslexia and special education needs. He lives in Los Angeles, California but is going to be in the country this month to publicise his new series.
Henry Winkler says “Ghost Buddy is first and foremost a comedy about two young guys who would probably never meet up, never associate with each other, and probably never take care of each other. The series has its underpinning... its foundation in bullying and being responsible to one another. But first, it's a comedy.”
At turns both laugh-out-loud hysterical and touching, young readers will find a relatable protagonist in Billy Broccoli and Ghost Buddy: Zero to Herowill have kids wishing for a spectral pal to turn to for advice like the Hoove. Winkler and Oliver have drawn upon the relationship between Richie Cunningham and Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli to create characters which are sure to capture children’s imaginations in the same way that Richie and the Fonz did for all the fans of Happy Days. |
